Dr. Douglas Shaw

drshawDr. Douglas Shaw was born and raised in Salt Lake City Utah where he graduated with honors from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Medical Biology. During his undergraduate education he took a two-year hiatus to volunteer as a missionary for his church on the islands of Samoa in the South Pacific where he experienced the culture and found a place in his heart for service.

Dr. Shaw received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, New Yorks #1 research University. He graduated #1 in his class (Summa Cum Laude) and received a number of clinical and academic honors including election into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon (National Dental Honor Society). During his dental education, Dr. Shaw participated in numerous outreach programs and served on the organization committee of the first ever BOCA (Buffalo Outreach & Community Assistance) dental mission trip to the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific.

Doug has always had a passion for orthodontics and was fortunate to receive his Certificate from NOVA Southeastern University where he learned the skills necessary to improve his patients’ lives by creating functional and esthetically pleasing smiles. Doug was awarded a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree for his thesis on digital vs. analog cranial base cephalometric superimpositions. His training has exposed him to a wide variety of treatment philosophies and techniques including Invisalign to serve as tools in his toolbox to make sure each patient has an individualized treatment plan to obtain a successful outcome.

Dr. Shaw is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) and a lifelong learner. He is always eager to learn the latest and greatest techniques to assist in treatment. Dr. Shaw says there is no better feeling than seeing a big grin on his patients’ faces when their braces are removed.

As an active person, Doug enjoys just about any sport or outdoor activity. Much of his leisure time is spent experiencing new places and activities along side his wife and two boys. Doug and his family are active members of their local church and feel blessed to call Texas their home.
